Technical Expert - Correlation & Measurement Technology

Volvo Car Group is now taking a strategic step to strengthen the implementation of strategies for technological leadership through the Technical Specialist Program, which purpose is to develop a strong technical workforce dedicated to innovation, product excellence and continuous improvement of core processes.

As Technical Expert, Correlation and Measurement Technology you have your position at Vehicle & Systems Testing but work cross the complete R&D. You will hold the overall responsibility to initiate and lead the technical development of measurement systems and you will also be in lead for the development of the knowledge base within your area. The area concerns correlation not only within a family of rigs, but also between different rig types in the lab. You will be an important contributor to the ambition of moving testing from complete vehicle into testing of sub systems. You will provide technical support both in-house and against suppliers in order to secure and quantify measuring quality.

As Technical Expert you will be responsible for the long term knowledge and development of your area within R&D. You will keep a close contact with universities and participate in seminars and conferences outside the company. You have the opportunity to act as a mentor for diploma workers and as industrial supervisor for PhD students. As a technical expert, with competence, vision and leadership, you will secure right measurement technology for R&D needs.

Main responsibilities
• Initiate and lead development of measurement technology and correlation methods within R&D
• Lead technical development within the area and propose technical solutions and investment plans that meet the need of Volvo Car Group and R&D
• Technical support within correlation and measurement technology for R&D
• Representing R&D in internal and external measurement technology issues, as well as acting as a mentor for engineers and PhD students within the area

Required qualifications
• M.Sc. or PhD degree in Physics, Mathematics, Automotive Engineering, Measurement Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar area
• Minimum 10 years of working experience within correlation and measurement technology
• Excellent English skills, spoken and written
• Demonstrated in-depth technical knowledge and leadership in the correlation area
• Experience from correlation between different test bed environments
• Strong record of technical innovation/contribution/leadership resulting in implementation within product development
• Experience from leading teams, from requirement setting to a technical solution and fulfilled function is meritorious
• Documented publication record in relevant technical area (paper, patents, reports etc) is meritorious
