Volvo Car Group is now taking a tactical step to strengthen the implementation of strategies for technological leadership through the Technical Specialist Program, which purpose is to recognise the needs to develop a strong technical workforce dedicated to innovation, product excellence and continuous improvement of core processes. The function of this program is also to provide employees with a viable technical career path, based on the needs of the organisation as well as the individual's technical contribution.

As Technical Expert - Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, test equipment you will be a part of the group Vehicle & Rig Testing at Hällered Proving Ground close to Borås. It is our responsibility to execute objective testing according to the customers' requirements in the area of active safety, vehicle dynamics, and clearance e.g. wheel, ground and engine. We are performing the tests both on rigs and on the tracks and during winter season on expeditions at tracks in southern Europe. The ADAS developed today needs very complex test scenarios to verify the functionality and it has to be done in a safe way and is therefore looking for a Technical Expert who will support them with the development of equipment for these scenarios. This includes equipment for autonomous driving and multiple soft targets that can be propelled in desired paths as well as testing in test rigs. In this role your will represent the internal and external data analysis possibilities and also act as a mentor for the engineers and PhD students in these matters. Another important part of the role will be to develop and maintain relations with Universities through supervision of doctorate programs and thesis, as well as proactively participate in seminars, conferences and conventions.

Main responsibilities

• Initiate and lead research work to improve current testing methods for both systems and components
• Lead research teams internally and in collaboration with Universities and other companies within the ADAS test equipment area
• Keep updated on how future homologation and rating methods will affect equipment requirements
• Responsible to create and update on annual basis a documented Vision, Mission & Strategy within the ADAS test equipment area
• Support in contacts with suppliers
• Proactively provide mentoring and coaching

Required qualifications

• At least a MSc degree within mechanical engineering, physics or mechatronics
• Minimum 5 years' experience in ADAS function development or testing
• You have demonstrated personal contribution of advanced technologies in the area
• English written and spoken
• Driver's licence (B-level)
