Our mission
Climate change is the ultimate safety test and Volvo Cars will pioneer sustainability as we have always done with safety. We are integrating sustainability in the whole lifecycle of our vehicles with the aim for carbon neutrality by 2040. Environmental regulations and expectations are expanding worldwide, and weight management is becoming more important. This indicates the need for an efficient development process resulting in efficient vehicle solutions with balanced performance requirements. A close collaboration with academia and consortiums is very important to build solid competence network securing state of art processes.
What you'll do
* Lead and coordinate weight optimization activities, cross VCC
* Initiate and coordinate relevant method development and implementation activities
* Deliver on annual basis a Vision, Mission, Strategy, and long-term targets in the area of expertise
* Deliver accurate information on simulation based development
* Secure knowledge exchange and documentation
* Educate the organization in simulation based development and weight optimization methods
* Assure transfer of knowledge and secure succession by mentoring, coaching and by delivering educational material and carry out education within the area
* Be a go-to-person within simulation based development, weight optimization and weight management
* Participate in relevant national and international research projects and networks
* Develop and maintain relations with governments, institutes, universities, consortiums, and other companies
* Participating in seminars, conferences and discussions about weight management and optimization
* Supervision of relevant doctorate programs, thesis works etc.
* Have a close dialog with software developers to develop relevant method and tool functionalities
* Maintain and increase personal expertise in weight optimization
* Write technical papers and participate in relevant conferences in the area of expertise
You and your skills
We see that you have a minimum 10 years of experience in simulation-based development, as well as extensive knowledge in applied structural optimization and theory. You have documented deliveries in weight related optimization work and method development and recognized leadership and technical expertise when it comes to weight management and optimization. You also have a solid record of technical innovation/contribution/leadership resulting in implementation of optimization methods in product development, as well as experience and recognition from national and international research projects. You have great English skills, verbally and in writing, and customer understanding and experience from complete vehicle product development.
On a personal level, you have the capability to initiate, develop and facilitate cross-functional work, along with demonstrated leadership and great communication skills through active listening, dialogue, and feedback. You have high level of communication skills and teamwork ability, i.e., from being invited as speaker and/or communication with media. You also have a demonstrated capability and willingness to teach, coach and be a mentor.
