Technical Expert - Visual Performance and Display Technology

As Technical Expert within Visual Performance and Display Technology you will be responsible for the Display development. The group is part of the Driver Interaction & Infotainment department were you will be part of the complete development chain from early strategy work and design development to final verification and field reports. The field includes all technical aspects that affect visual quality such as component performance, systems design, digital video formats, LCDs (e.g. Centre Stack Display, Instrument Cluster).

As Technical Expert you should have a clear understanding of the differences between technical specifications and human visual perception, and an intimate knowledge of existing and emerging visual technologies, in order to drive Volvo Car's strategic mission forward. Main responsibilities
• Deliver on annual basis a documented Vision, Mission & Strategy within the Technical Expert area
• Deliver on annual basis a Benchmark report covering competitors, suppliers, authorities, etc
• Deliver Research work to define New Requirement Specifications and Corresponding Verification/Validation Method
• Secure Technology Readiness by Initiating and supervise Advanced Engineering and EU projects
• Actively support concept studies for new car projects
• On request advice line and project management in technical matters from the point of view "What is best for Volvo Cars in a competitive environment"
• Support in contacts with suppliers, quality assurance, authorities and organisations
• Deliver education material and carry through education within Technical Expert area
• Deliver applications for research and innovation projects which are co-financed by the authorities
• Develop and maintain relations with universities through supervision of doctorate programs, thesis works etc.
• Proactively participate in seminars, conferences and conventions
• You are the expert and recognised as the go-to person

Required qualifications
• You have minimum a M.Sc. degree or equivalent experience
• You have a minimum of 10 years experience in Electrical Engineering and Display Technology
• Experience of leading and development of teams
• You are fluent in English (written and spoken)
• You have a valid driver's license
• PhD thesis or similar within Display Technology area is seen as positive but not mandatory
