As a Technical Specialist, you will be part of the Seats Management Team and by that have the responsibility to develop and decide on future technology development in the area of Occupant Detection. You will work closely together with the Technical Expert Network at Volvo, but also be part of networks outside the company - with universities and institutes.

What you'll do
You'll be responsible to develop current technologies within the area and - most importantly - build future strategies, drive development of new innovative technologies and algorithms to support areas like occupant safety, active safety, infotainment as well as future more sophisticated technologies to meet Autonomous Drive scenarios.
Occupant detection and classification: facilitate the detection and classification of passengers - a function that today use numerous sensors e.g.; pressure based seat sensors, capacity based seat sensors, seat positioning sensors, seat belt reminder sensors and buckle presence sensors. This information is used to secure that correct restraint systems are activated (for example airbag deployment).


You will be responsible for
Leading and planning Advanced Engineering projects from Idea to Implementation in Car programs through
* Secure competitive long and short-term technical strategies for occupant detection and classification
* Lead research work to define new requirement specifications and corresponding verification and validation methods, tools and facilities.
* Maintain personal expertise in the specialist area, follow the research within the area and provide engineering guidance
* Report Advanced Engineering project status on different levels - from Section to P&Q management
* Actively work with academy and industry/suppliers to develop algorithms and technology to support occupant detection and classification needs.
* Deliver applications for research and innovation projects, which can be co-financed by authorities.
* Develop and maintain relations with universities through supervision of doctorate programs, thesis works etc.
* Proactively participate in PR events, seminars, conferences and conventions.

Do you fit the profile?
To be successful in this role we believe you have a University degree, preferably within electronics and relevant work-life experience from the technical field. You need to be an experienced leader with demonstrated leadership in teams, projects and tasks with the ability to lead a team in the delivery of technical objectives. In addition, since you will work in a global setting we expect you to be fluent in English

Competence and experience is important but personality is key! As leader in your area of expertize you have to be motivated and self-propelled with a high level of curiosity for new technologies. You need high level of communication and presentation skills, inspiring people around you. For you deadlines are actually deadlines and you take pride in delivering on time. Also, you have to be analytic and structured and have a good sense for both technical and strategic work.
