Electrical Propulsion Systems (EPS) is a department in the Power train unit responsible for research and development of EPS. CAE & Systems Design is a group within the department EPS which is responsible for the development of the majority of components for electrification of Hybrids and Electric Cars. Some of the important parts of the systems in the vehicles are High Voltage Batteries (Automotive > 60V), Electric Motors, Inverters & Chargers. The group CAE & System Design works cross-functional within EPS in areas as Systems Design, Diagnostics & Dependability, Electrical Safety, Architecture & Simulations (CAE). Working at EPS Design you need to establish and maintain a wide personal network within other units at R&D.
As a Technical Expert - High Voltage Systems Design you will have a leading role in designing and delivering Electric Propulsion concepts & system solutions. You will be focusing on activities in the research and concept study phases. You will have the task to aggregate new attributes and functions influencing the Electric Propulsion System and the HVDC-bus properties. The Electric Propulsion area creates technical challenges in terms of new types of components and new requirements, particularly within Electrical Performance & EMC, caused by high voltages, fast switching of high currents as well as high electrical power.
Main responsibilities
* Drive cross industrial collaborations, including suppliers and tool vendors, to ensure a sustainable strategy considering both technical and business goals
* Develop strategies, roadmaps and general requirements to be able to deliver expected properties as performance and range
* Design of the overall electric propulsion system with focus on components integration, system performance and dependability
* Secure technology readiness by initiating and supervise advanced engineering and research projects
* Support, coach, inspire and strengthen the competence of engineers working in AE-projects, system development and testing, where High Voltage is used
* Develop and maintain relations with universities through supervision of doctorate programs, thesis works etc
* Participate in cross-functional work, e.g. when defining superior system level & commonality
* Deliver applications for research and innovation projects which are co-financed by the authorities
* Proactively participate in seminars, conferences and conventions
* Support on press events and interviews and in contacts with authorities, e.g. in legal matters
Required qualifications
* Minimum Master degree in relevant area or equivalent
* At least 10 years of experience in Electrical Engineering
* Wide knowledge within EPS functions and systems
* Deep knowledge within High Voltage technology
* Aability to lead development efforts with a strong delivery orientation is meritorious
* Significant experience of leading and developing teams is meritorious
* Ability to summarize and present complex technical issues is an asset
* Demonstrated capability and willingness to teach / coach / mentor is an advantage
