What's in it for you?

Our purpose at department Vehicle Energy and Motion Control (VEMC) is to develop and deliver the most energy efficient and situation adapted ride and drive experience. Evaluating driver input, surrounding information (e.g. camera, radar and route data) and Autonomous Drive request, as well as vehicle state sensor input, our software (mainly inhouse developed) coordinates the different actuators (engine, motors, brakes, steering) to fulfill our purpose and balance vehicle attributes.

We have the responsibility to design, implement, and tune the software components needed to fulfill our purpose. Our software components are deployed in various nodes in the vehicle but also in the cloud. We are today about 160 ambitious and experienced engineers doing this together.

What will you do?

We are looking for a Technical Expert for Energy Management and Control Strategies within the Energy Efficiency group.

The team's main responsibility is the ownership of the Vehicle Energy Management and Driver Coaching functions, which means concept development, requirement setting, and system engineering of functionalities like; Electrical Distance to Empty (range prediction), route based optimized charge/discharge of electric energy, predictive thermal management, smart pre-conditioning, range assist, etc. The purpose is to minimize the energy consumption of the vehicle, either actively or by coaching the driver.

As Technical Expert, your focus will be to drive research and development to find new or improved ways of managing, controlling, and minimizing energy usage.

Within your expertise area you will:
* Initiate and support relevant research projects, as well as develop and maintain relations with institutes, universities, consortiums, and other companies etc.
* Assure transfer of knowledge by mentoring, coaching, and delivering educational material and carry out education within the area. Also supervise relevant doctoral programs, thesis works etc.
* Be involved in updating technology roadmaps and knowledge plans for the area.
* Actively co-operate with other experts' across functions to ensure that we identify and remove roadblocks and align on priorities.
* Maintain personal expertise and follow the research frontier covering competitors, academia, etc.

Do you fit the profile?

We seek someone who is open-minded and curious with a good ability to cooperate. You have excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, and the ability to cope with many topics in parallel. You are a technical-minded team player who appreciates working with different cultures. Besides being customer focused, you have strong analytical capability, are structured, and organized in daily work. You have demonstrated leadership skills, and the capability and willingness to teach, coach and be a mentor.

You bring experience from automotive software and system development, have a holistic view and great systems thinking. You have more than 10 years of experience in the relevant field and at least a master's degree (preferable PhD) within physics, controls, or automotive engineering, with an energy optimization focus. Ideally, you have comprehensive experience from research. We assume that you communicate fluently in English (speech and writing) and have a driving license (level B).
