Volvo Car Group is now taking a strategic step to strengthen the implementation of strategies for technological leadership through the Technical Specialist Program, which purpose is to develop a strong technical workforce dedicated to innovation, product excellence and continuous improvement of core processes.

As Technical Expert - Driver Vehicle Co-operation within the HMI communityyou will be a member of the section Interaction Engineering. The section is responsible for the driver and passenger interaction with the car, when it comes to what is presented in the displays. We have both the functional and electrical system responsibility. You will be a member of the management team of Interaction Engineering, and report directly to the senior manager.

As Technical Expert you will be responsible for the long term knowledge and development of your area within R&D. You will keep a close contact with universities and participate in seminars and conferences outside the company. You have the opportunity to act as a mentor for diploma workers and as industrial supervisor for PhD students. As a technical expert, with competence, vision and leadership, you will secure right measurement technology for R&D needs.

Main responsibilities

• Deliver vision, strategy and benchmark within the Technical Expert area
• Support concept studies
• Evaluate and support the HMI requirement and HMI development process
• Futuring and evaluate new technologies to enable new ways of interacting with driver information
• Develop and judge technical and functional strategies for HMI by advanced engineering and research projects
• Improve functions supporting the driver in fulfilling their goals by driver information during normal driving conditions
• Balance the research palette from a holistic HMI viewpoint concerning functionality, processes and methods
• Support HMI coherency between different functional subareas
• Encourage and maintain a national competence build-up and networking within the area of HMI
• Maintain and develop an international knowledge base in order to improve understanding of different market needs

Required qualifications

• M.Sc. or PhD degree
• Minimum 10 years of working experience within the HMI community
• Experience from at least two platform programs within the Technical Expert area
• Experience of automotive industry
• Demonstrated capability to use competitor information
• Documented high level of communication skill and presentation techniques
• Demonstrated capability to integrate effective interaction solutions
• Demonstrated capability to provide technical leadership to peers and management
• Experience of leading and development of teams
• Excellent English skills, spoken and written
