Our Challenge

Future mobility solutions demand major upgrades of monitoring capabilities, predictive maintenance, and vehicle health algorithms. Are you ready to utilize your network both internally as well as externally, coordinate input, lead long-term priorities discussions and contribute to Volvo Cars research strategy? Then the role as Technical Coordinator- Strategic Exploration & Research is the place for you to prosper!
Your Contribution
You will support external research and partnership for R&D, tracking and coordinating ongoing external research programs and applications. You will act as the 1st point of contact for questions from the organization, uphold a continuous dialogue and secure the information flow, secure ceremonies and provide guidance. You will work actively with your colleagues and the organization to understand what we need to do, how we do it and to create necessary prerequisites and networks. Further, you will set up processes to support Intellectual Properties and legal matters.
On request from Strategic Knowledge and Research Committee, exploration & research arena or Research & Development Management Team, you will help create clarity and transparency on ongoing research and strategic exploration. You will also have specific assignments towards external contacts and start-ups, lead exploration investigations cross R&D and be part of ongoing Exploration & Research programs.
We offer you a broad role, where you will give advice on proper financing to teams within AD as well as within material centre for example. This role will put high demand on your ability to work cross functional and to steer technical discussions on different levels.
Competence is Important
You have a university degree in engineering and a Ph.D. would be highly beneficial. You have experience in automotive either within the industry or the research community, with knowledge in Intellectual Properties. If you work on the subject from an academic as well as political point of view it will be really beneficial.
You are an excellent networker, comfortable with external representation and with the ability to balance strategic alignment.
Personality is Key
You are a professional with high integrity, a servant leader that enjoys working together towards a shared goal. You always keep a holistic view but are able to work hands on when needed. You are focused on efficient delivery on time and taking fast decisions is nothing that bothers you.
You are used to organizing many-to-many relations, connections and complex support processes that fit R&D. Comfortable having a wide spectrum in tasks, from basic admin to strategic decision support.
