physical chemistry team within the Lead Generation department. The team is
responsible for characterisation of physicochemical properties of drug discovery
compounds in the lead generation and lead optimisation phases. The
arena The cardiovascular (CV) and gastrointestinal (GI) research area
at AZ R&D Mölndal has as its main objective to find novel treatments to meet
patient needs. The Lead Generation department within CV/GI is a truly
interdisciplinary department that brings together the scientific and technical
expertise essential for high quality lead generation. Characterisation of
physicochemical properties is key component in these efforts and in order to
strengthen this we are now forming a dedicated team within the Lead Generation
DMPK&Physical Chemistry section. The role As a team leader you
will lead a multi-skilled team of 6-7 scientists and report to the section head.
You have an overall responsibility for the work in your team providing
leadership to your staff and you create a dynamic atmosphere by stimulating and
coaching members and team to develop beyond current skill level. Core
accountabilities and responsibilities are: * Leads and motivates the
group to deliver its main objectives: Data generation and interpretation. *
Ensures high standards of scientific work and high productivity *
Responsible for driving continuous improvement of scientific methods and ways of
working * Responsible for delivery of physical chemistry perspective into
compound design * Responsible for that that all activities are carried out
to high SHE standards * Sets, communicates and follows up team goals *
As a team leader in the Lead Generation department, actively contributes to
development of lead generation science and processes * Represents the
department in cross-functional and cross-site activities when required
Minimum requirements The successful candidate will have: *
Strong team working and networking skills with the ability to empower others
• Lead Optimisation/Lead Generation knowledge and experience *
Expertise in the area of physicochemical characterisation of drug compounds and
a basic understanding of DMPK and QSAR modelling * High delivery focus and
decisiveness * An educational background in the area of physical or
analytical chemistry at PhD level or corresponding experience
Preferred experience/requirements We believe that you have a clear
view on the application of physicochemical data in drug hunting projects and
that you have the ability to inspire, motivate and develop people. You have
excellent influencing skills and ability build productive relationships within
and outside AstraZeneca. Experience of driving change initiatives to enhance
innovation and productivity is an advantage. More information
