We are looking for a Team Leader to our R&D site in Gothenburg, Sweden.
As the Team Leader for the Transcriptomics and Next Generation Sequencing Team, within IMED Discovery Sciences, you will play a pivotal role in leading and driving our high throughput sequencing activities. By applying your advanced knowledge and experience in Molecular Biology, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and their application in research and pharmaceutical development you will lead our efforts to support, generate and develop NGS methods and protocols to deliver research and drug discovery initiatives. The main focus of the role will be on Transcriptomic work at the global and single cells level, applying existing methods and generating novel methods internally and through collaboration, as well as encompassing genomic and epigenomic sequencing activities. You will be an integral part of the drug discovery process and will work closely with scientists from every part of our R&D organization to maximize the utility of NGS to provide data that addresses project questions and to also helps answer the critical questions the field faces today.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Lead a team of molecular biologists and NGS specialists
* Ensures delivery of team and section objectives in line with business objectives
* Own performance management in the team and develop individuals in team
* Partner with colleagues on projects requiring NGS support to give critical input and manage workloads, prioritisation and project expectations.
* Ensure team compliance with local and global company policies
Essential Requirements
* Ideally should have a Ph. D. degree or corresponding experience in a relevant scientific discipline with relevant experience in drug discovery and/or early development or in a leading academic institution.
* Expected to add value by contributing to initiation and/or progression of projects
* Recognised in specialist field across AstraZeneca and locally/nationally outside of AstraZeneca
* Sets and maintains professional standards in discipline
* Influences across functions in projects or strategy
* Can identify and evaluate external opportunities and threats and influence strategy accordingly
* Can take on key project or significant leadership roles
* Performs evaluation and due diligence for in-licensing, out-sourcing or collaboration opportunities
* Mentors more junior professionals to support their development and contributes to talent development
