From a research perspective we work to understand, treat, modify and ultimately cure respiratory disease with an emphasis on four diseases with significant unmet medical need; asthma, COPD, Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) and chronic cough.

Our stunning campus in Gothenburg is one of AstraZeneca's three strategic science centres. Main Duties and Responsibilities
The remit of the RIA Bioscience Department is to generate in vitro, in vivo and ex vivo biology data to secure project deliveries to defined achievements and timelines. Each team consists of skilled scientists with diverse backgrounds and experiences. To build from this, you will drive innovation and scientific excellence in Bioscience through internal scientific development, external collaborations and competitive awareness.
As an authority in the field, you will define ground-breaking areas of scientific exploration in line with set objectives. A key part of your role will be to keep AstraZeneca visible by publishing papers and reviews in internationally recognized journals as well as presenting at internationally recognized conferences. We therefore require you to have a strong scientific background and an extensive external network.
You will join a department with both senior and junior team leaders who work in close collaboration to support and challenge each other. Additionally, you will be surrounded by excellent scientists in an environment where absolutely everyone can thrive.
Example of accountabilities:
* Planning and long-term development of the Bioscience activities and projects in close collaboration with your manager and other team leaders
* Build and maintain a work environment in which scientific challenge and innovation is central
* Support specific drug projects leading the biology
* Present specific target ideas to relevant governance
* Establish external collaborations with CROs, academia and biotech partners
* Work collaboratively with other teams within and outside of the IMED
* Ensure that the work produced by your team is performed with high quality in accordance with compliance processes, meeting company as well as biology standards
Essential Requirements
* M.D or Ph.D within relevant field
* Strong leadership capabilities with emphasis on people management and development
* An understanding of Respiratory Diseases
* Extensive publication record in the field of respiratory and/or inflammation
* Excellent communication and networking skills
Desirable Requirements
* Drug Discovery experience
