hela Sverige Skype was founded in 2003 and is the leading company when it comes to communication over internet. Right now they have 28% of all global traffic in telecom and is still growing fast . Skype is a social multiplatform and includs not only audio but also video and text. They are well known for their great quality in audio/video.
The company has about 1600 people employed globaly and the Stockholm office houses around 90 of those and around 20 different nationalities is represented here. This Engineer Office is growing rapidly and we are now looking for a Team Lead to the Video QE department.
Reporting to the AVT QE Team Lead, the Video Quality Engineering Team Lead will work as a peer to the Video Library Product Manager and Product Engineering Manager supporting testing activities and consultation on video quality related matters. You will collaborate closely with other product and quality engineering managers, product managers and engineers. Your responsibility is to ensure that new and existing initiatives meet their goals and satisfy the stakeholders. Setting the right focus to the team and developing solutions together with the team and its stakeholders is essential.
Main resbonsabilities is managing resources, hiring activities. and to build, develop and strengthen the team. You will work with team management and motivation by regularly provide formal and informal performance feedback to team members, including discussions of strengths and areas for improvement. You are also going to work with the product team to define quality criteria, measurements, improvement and implement quality metrics for development/testing.
It is also important that you maintain awareness and up-to-date knowledge of current and emerging software engineering trends and technology and that you promote the use of best practices across the organization. In this position it includes providing input for departmental budgets and work to manage operational and capital expenses in order to meet the budget and implementing QA methodologies/processes.
We are looking for someone with strong video signal processing related background. You ideally have a M.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. If you are a past developer or have tester experience it is a big plus. You also have proven managerial experience in building, developing and managing highly effective engineering teams in high-growth, high-change environments. You have demonstrated ability to mentor technical professionals and ability to influence key decision-makers and technical peers.
As a person you are self motivated, independent and proactive. You pocess excellent collaborative and team engagement skills and strong analytical and problem solving skills. You will need to demonstrate strong leadership in setting and driving complex test strategies, identifying, resolving and escalating problems. You are a naturally born communicator and express your vision openly and clearly. You are humble and act as a coach rather than a star. You are not afraid to communicate and admit failure.
