Work duties
The position involves experimental (laboratory) work as well as process simulation and modelling. The research assistant will perform experimental work that includes hydrothermal carbonisation, pyrolysis of underutilised biomass derivatives, and biochemical methane potential assays.
The position also requires the teaching assistant to work closely with PhD candidates, senior researchers as well as industrial partners in cutting edge research projects.
Qualifications
Only those who are admitted to an education at first cycle or second cycle level at MDU may be employed as a teaching assistant.
Candidates should have at least 90 credits towards a degree in engineering or equivalent. The applicant should be able to demonstrate evidence of laboratory work. The applicant should have experience in energy and material balances, and either have experience with working in the AspenTech environment, or an interest in using the AspenTech environment.
You will work in an international environment, so good skills in English is required.
Merits:
• Has experience in biochemical methane potential assays.
• Has a background in bioprocess engineering and/or biorefinery.
• Has experience in batch processing.
• Has knowledge in pyrolysis and hydrothermal carbonisation.
• Has experience in simulating chemical processes.
• Has experience in thermochemical conversion techniques.
• Can work with their hands, e.g., in a workshop environmental, working with hand tools, etc.
