The International School of the Stockholm Region is a publically funded international school which exists primarily to serve the educational needs of the transient and/or international community of Stockholm. The school runs the International Baccalaureate's curricula. The Primary Years Programme (PYP) is offered to students from 5-11 years of age and the Middle Years Programme (MYP) is offered to students from 11-16. The schools language of instruction is English for all subjects. In addition, the IBO Diploma Programme is also offered through IB School South on the same campus. Thus with ISSR and IB School South our students can receive an internationally-recognized education in English from 5 to 19 years of age in one location in the center of Stockholm.
1 plats(er). This fall ISSR will need a Swedish (home language)/ Swedish as an additional language teacher for the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP).
This fall ISSR will need a Swedish (home language)/ Swedish as an additional language teacher for the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP). Swedish for mother tongue Instruction will be in mixed levels where children often have Swedish backgrounds, but haven't maintained their reading/writing due to living abroad. Children will be grouped in 2-3 grade levels and instruction should be interdisciplinary and planned collaboratively with the classroom teacher. Swedish as an Additional Language (SAL) will be also mixed levels with children of varying backgrounds from around the world. There will be a wide variety of abilities and exposure to Swedish so differentiation will be a must. Due to the use of the IB curricula (PYP and MYP) there will be an ongoing expectation to work closely (collaborate) with the classroom teachers in the PYP and MYP to facilitate learning. Working as part of a team is an intrinsic part of this position.
Responsibilities include:
• Planning high quality lessons and ongoing documentation of student achievement
• Maintaining an engaging and organized learning environment
• Maintaining ongoing parent/school communication
• Participating in school activities (assemblies, evening events, conferences, etc.)
• Supervising children during breaks
• Planning with colleagues across the school
• Continued professional development
• A university educated teacher in Swedish and Swedish as an Additional Language (Svenska som andra språk) with certification from either Sweden or a native English speaking country
• High competent English speaker
• Highly competent with IT (Windows platform, Smartboard and other tools for learning).
Löneform: Månadslön.
Anställningsform: Tidsbegränsad.
Krav på arbetslivserfarenhet: Erfarenhet krävs. * Experience working with culturally diverse language learners
• Experience working with small children
• International and/or IB teaching experience
Varaktighet: 6 månader eller längre.
