Technical Expert- Requirements and Metrics

The section DUX Development Centre is a part of Electrical Engineering and Chassis unit within Volvo Cars R&D. The section is responsible for Digital UX development in car projects and is conducting advanced engineering and research projects within the area. The focus for the position is Requirements, methods and metrics for DUX Functions. Alignment with adjacent areas is also included.

As Technical Expert, you will strive to identify industrial needs for research and innovation projects, establish new research collaborations and be part of applying for external funding. Furthermore, you will support as well as provide input to new DUX functional requirement specifications and corresponding verification/validation methods. To secure process, methods and tools readiness by initiating and supervise Operational Development projects will also be a part of your work.

Main responsibilities

• Actively support in the planning of studies within Technical Expert (TE) area, e.g. requirement setting and corresponding methods and metrics to use
• Develop and maintain relations with universities through supervision of doctorate programs, thesis works, etc.
• Support quality assurance and fault tracing activities, e.g. connected to user complaints
• On request participate in cross-functional work, e.g. when defining superior system level, commonality work, etc.
• Proactively inform adjacent areas when content in own area of TE speciality changes
• Deliver education material and carry through education within TE area
• Participate in standardisation work
• Participate in seminars, conferences and conventions
• On request support in contacts with authorities, in for example legal matters
• On request support PR/ PA on press events, interviews, and search assignments

Required qualifications

• Master's Degree or equivalent within Human Factors, Cognitive Science or similar. A PhD Degree and applied practice from both automotive industry and academia is qualifying
• 10 years of documented experience within the TE area; requirement setting, design and evaluation of user interfaces and knowledge in how to observe, measure and analyse user behavior
• Capability to interpret relevant external research, authority analyses and industrial investigations and convey and integrate with needs in car programs
• Experience from at least two platform programmes within the TE area
• Documented skills in relevant qualitative and quantitative methods (design, usability, ergonomics and safety); planning, execution, data analysis, data interpretation and presentation
• Documented Demonstrated initiative and capability to provide technical leadership to peers and management
• Experience of project management, such as leading and develop teams
