OHB Sweden is developing complete satellites and subsystems for many different space applications, for example Communication, Earth Observation, Weather and Science.
We are now starting several new projects and are involved in some of the most advanced state-of-the-art missions in the areas of space debris removal, weather forecasting and asteroid exploration.
As Mechatronics Engineer you will be part of the team that develop our satellite test environments and hardware within the Spacecraft Department. As we have to build, test and launch three spacecraft in 2020, the near-term tasks will be for example unit and system level test benches, functional testing, verification and "Launch and Early Operations" (LEOP) campaigns. This will serve as the basis for a future role in Spacecraft Systems Engineering.
Position Requirements:
• Masters' degree in Engineering, preferably in Space and/or Mechatronics
• Fluent in English and technical documentation in English
• Advantageous: Embedded Systems, EMC, Radiation, Matlab, Simulink, LabView or similar
All of our projects involve a very broad range of expertise, covering for example design, mechanical analysis, software, operations, radiation, EMC, electrical, thermal, testing, and integration. This requires a broad and flexible skill set for all those working at OHB Sweden.
The work is mostly executed in a typical office environment, but the hardware is handled in our own clean rooms, electrical labs, propulsion labs, and environmental labs. So being comfortable in a typical engineering office/project environment, whilst also being comfortable in a lab environment, is very important.
Team working and ability to work autonomously are key to a typical day. OHB Sweden is not a large company, and much of the expertise lies on the Engineers and Technicians to handle these tasks quickly, efficiently and work closely with your colleagues! So practical solutions and a "doer" attitude are necessary. Some travel may be required (3-5 trips per year).
