Your workplace
Electronic Defence Systems, a business area of Saab, is one of the world's premier suppliers of solutions for surveillance, avionics and systems to detect, locate and protect against threat.
The Product Area Utility and Mission Systems, located in Jönköping, Sweden, develops and manufactures highly qualified electronics, software and mechanics of aircraft and other demanding applications. Most of our projects are conducted in an international environment and we supply, among others, products to two of the world's largest aircraft manufacturers, Airbus and Boeing.
The current head of our Systems Engineering group goes on to become a Product Unit Manager within our Product Area Utility & Mission Systems. We therefore need a new manager for our 10 systems engineers. The group is responsible for the specifying our products at the system level, making concept proposals for architectures, preparing customer proposals, modeling and simulating systems, all the way to integrating and verifying the systems.
Your role
You are responsible for controlling departmental activities in accordance with the operational plan and budget you establish with your immediate supervisor, the Engineering Department Manager. You must plan so that projects have the staffing and skills they need, and follow up the results of your employees' contributions to all projects. You will work with all of your employees to further develop their skills and competence. We work with Lean Product Development methods, so you as the manager will become the Lean Champion for your group. You will also drive improvements in systems engineering methods and tools, together with Systems Engineering departments across the Saab group.
Your qualifications
You should have a Master of Science engineering degree, or equivalent, preferably in Aerospace Engineering, Computer & Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or Engineering Physics.
We expect you to have experience in team and project management or line management positions in the airline industry in general, or from other organizations working with embedded computer systems.
Good knowledge of English is a requirement. We promise technically exciting work in an international environment.
