System Task Leader - Fuel Systems

At RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT you will be a key contributor to the next generation outstanding luxury cars from Volvo. Together with other engineers over the world, you and your team will create innovative human-centric car technology that makes life less complicated and more enjoyable for people. As SYSTEM TASK LEADER within the section Fuel System you are responsible for delivering programs on a system level that meets technology, timing and cost demands. You will lead a team and report to the section manager. Our main challenge is to fulfill internal and legal requirements on both emissions and safety. Your main work will include system decisions, sourcing, design and verification of products and order tools and finally secure production. Your technical interface will be great including a product range with plastic tanks, pumps, fuel lines, sensors, actuators, control modules and software functions.

The section is divided into 4 groups, System Development and the component groups: Distribution, Storage and EVAP/Fuel lines. You are positioned in the group System Development that is responsible for system design, system testing and delivery of projects on a system level across the section. System Development is also responsible for the complete vehicle evaporative emissions, meaning that we handle the whole vehicle hydrocarbon emissions. Technically we are now in a process to change the system to meet environmental and legal demands in future fuels such as biodiesel. We are also driven by new markets and their specific fuels e.g. methanol in China.

Job profile:

• Lead fuel system projects from system decision to production start
• Deliver and answer for cross-functional quality assured and optimised systems according to demands on time, technique and cost
• Lead and work on systems to prepare and finalise them for industrialisation before system decision are made
• Create project status reports and present them to the section manager
• Process deviations and deliver action plans to meet program demands
• Operational responsible for the cross functional team
• Challenge the section regarding solutions and cost
• Contribute with a holistic view to deliver best platform solutions across all projects

Your profile:

• University degree or equivalent in engineering
• Experience from product development and quality processes on a system level
• Strong leadership skills, strategic and holistic view and ability to motivate and develop a team
• High technical interest
• Structured and result oriented
• Flexible and able to work in a fast moving and dynamic environment
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Fluent in spoken and written English
• B driver licence is required and BE is meritorious
• Experience from work with fuel systems and/or powertrain systems is meritorious
• Experience from work in vehicle programs including industrial launch is meritorious
• Certified in 6-sigma is meritorious
