At Research & Development you will be a key contributor to the next generation outstanding luxury cars from Volvo. Together with other engineers around the world, you and your team will create innovative human-centric car technology that makes life less complicated and more enjoyable for people. Are you interested in design and connected car technology? Do you share our passion for people, the environment and our urge to create a superior driving experience? Research and Development is the place for you to prosper.

Interior Engineering consists of four section teams, each focused on delivering world class interiors for our future cars. We are responsible for all product documents defining the interior of the car. The interior of the car is one of the most important areas to influence on customers wellbeing, satisfaction and a motivation to buy a Volvo again. The section Seats, is a complex and challenging area of engineering; we have the complete responsibility to develop the steal frame, the foam padding and the trim cover, giving the customers an outstanding seating comfort. We handle all phases of the development; annual work, advanced engineering, concept development, industrialisation, quality and cost reduction. In the area of seat development, our suppliers develop most of the systems with our guidance and some parts we handle as build-to-print - but the overall responsibility lays within Volvo Car Group. We work in a cross functional process with Purchasing, Design, Manufacturing, Product Planning and other development units within R&D. The section is divided in three groups; Front Seats & Seating Comfort, Rear Seats & Trim and Seating Structure. In the new XC90, that was launched in the beginning of 2015, the customers have praised the design and comfort of our seats - a feedback we also want to be reflected in future projects.
