The section Wheel suspension is one of the sections within the department Vehicle Control and Chassis/Climate at Volvo Cars.

The wheel suspension System team is responsible for development of front, rear and active wheel suspension at system level. We have the main focus at early phases of the development; annual work, advanced engineering, concept development.


We work in an agile X-functional work process with Design, Product Planning and development teams within R&D. In your position as system developer - wheel suspension, you will work closely with the system and component responsible engineers at wheel suspension as well as attribute leaders at R&D. A big challenge is to continue to to improve current technologies, working methods, define new, and minimize dependency of physical testing.


What you'll do
* Define, refine and develop wheel suspension layouts for future cars
* Participate in engineering tasks and be one of the main contacts for wheel suspension hardpoints and system CAE
* Help component designers to develop component targets for stiffness & compliance

* Develop tools for semi-automatic Hardpoint setup based on basic kinematic targets
* Develop kinematic solver for our different suspension types
* Perform basic Adams analysis to validate basic performance of developed tools and our Hardpoint lists and to secure the foundation to fulfil elasto-kinematic attribute requirements
* Develop test tools for continuous integration tasks and for demo events within the wheel suspension engineering teams
* Document developed tools
* General software: Catia, Team Center, Adams, Excel, Matlab
* Establish these tools within the wheel suspension engineering teams
* Establish early phase Hardpoint lists as the base for mechanical development (system, structures, tuning parts)
* Perform system selection analysis
* Continuously improve for more efficient and robust process
* Participate in engineering task to work with the tools in real life to get best feedback
