You will be a part of FACTS in Västerås, within the Power Systems division. FACTS solutions enable power grid owners to increase existing transmission network capacity while maintaining or improving the operating margins necessary for grid stability. The FACTS portfolio covers three technology branches: series compensation, dynamic shunt compensation, and dynamic energy storage. The technologies are applied in Utility-, Industrial-, Wind-, Renewables- and Rail- applications all supporting the upcoming Smart Grid evolution. The Västerås office has 240 employees and works within marketing, sales, project management, design & engineering and on-site work. Sweden is the Global Execution Center for FACTS technology within ABB.

Our market is continuously growing, and so are we. We are a team of highly qualified engineers working with system design of FACTS devices, and you will contribute with specialist knowledge in power systems modeling and analysis. Your task will be system studies necessary to verify the plants? dynamic performance. Some studies are done by external consultants, your task will then be to specify the work and review the results. Sometimes it is necessary to develop new control strategies, and you may then be involved in this kind of work as well. We need to constantly improve our processes for this kind of work, and your contribution to this will be valuable to ensure our future success. There will also be opportunities to participate in technical development, marketing, system testing and measurements.

You have a M.Sc or Ph.D in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of five years? experience as a System Study Engineer for utilities and large industrial networks covering load flows, short circuit studies, transient analysis and stability studies. Full work knowledge on industry standard software used for studies, such as PSS/E, DIgSILENT/PowerFactory and PSCAD is required. You will be collaborating with colleagues in Sweden and with other ABB organizations as well as with customers from all over the world. It is therefore essential that you master the English language and that you have excellent communication skills. Additional language skills are advantageous. It is necessary that you have the ability to work independently, but also that you enjoy sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues with your expertise.
