System Engineer Electrical Energy Management

The department Power Supply Systems within the unit Electrics/Electronics & E-propulsion, is responsible for developing System solutions and Software functionality for Low voltage (12-60V) Electrical Energy Management. The work reaches from pre-development phase, to evaluating new technologies and systems, as well as in industrialisation phase where the customer content and the start of production time are set. The recent years with strong focus on CO2-reduction has led to an increase of features within the sections responsibility, mainly focusing on mild hybrid systems up to 60V. Therefore we need to develop high performing- and energy efficient power supply systems, balancing performance with cost and weight. We are focusing on supporting further development of the Stop/Start functionality and to develop 48V- as well as 12V-energy recovery systems (mild hybrids), both incorporating Li-ion battery technology, Electric propulsion, power electronics and system/SW development. Our team is best described as innovative, supportive and highly skilled, putting high demands on all our deliveries.

As a System Engineer Electrical Energy Management you will be working with the complete chain from the idea to setting requirements and actual implementation. Since our system is affecting the behaviour of the complete electrical system and has a great impact of the fuel consumption of the car, you will work in close contact with a majority of the other function and system areas within R&D. This role gives you a chance to work with the latest technology in order to reach the future characteristics and requirements in a very exciting field.

Main responsibility:

• Take part in the section's Advanced Engineering projects
• Within Advanced Engineering, develop and evaluate (short-loop) SW in HIL and demo vehicles
• Develop LV EEM system solution based on incoming requirements
• Develop models/SW and test cases to be used in vehicle projects
• Develop controller- and plant models enabling early verification of concepts
• Take part in and support the section's work within ISO26262 - Functional safety
• Coordination between all teams to secure overall performance of system - manage many interfaces

Required qualifications:

• B.Sc. or higher in Electronics/Mechatronics engineering or equivalent
• Knowledge in modeling and simulation, MATLAB and Simulink
• Experience from working in the field SW Development, requirement handling within electrical and/or software projects
• Knowledge in ISO 26262 - Functional Safety
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
• Driver's license (B-level)
• Meritorious is knowledge in Battery technology, Power electronics and/or Electrical machines
• Experience from product development work within Volvo Car Group is an asset
