The System Engineers mission is to ensure the performance of the existing operation platform, including (but not limited to) investigating and evaluating hardware and software for efficient operations. Other key tasks are performance monitoring and tuning, hardware / software installation and support the development projects within the gaming systems on OS and application related issues. The position will include on call support for out of office hours for escalation.

Responsibilities

• Perform administration, maintenance and troubleshooting

• Maintain, perform and test backup and recovery strategies and procedures

• Perform system installations, configurations, upgrades and migrations

• Develop and maintain documentation

• Work closely and maintain good relationship with the software development house

• Monitor capacity and performance, troubleshooting and proactively resolving a wide variety of problems. Establish and maintain standards, procedures and automation strategies for tools and monitoring

• Package and distribute our tools and applications used in the gaming systems

Education

• Higher technical education is a plus but no requirement

• Certifications relevant to Linux installation and administration is a major plus

Working experiences

• E-commerce / Online retail

• 24/7 high availability systems

• Medium to large Linux/Unix installations

• Development experience is a plus

• Working with the LAMP architecture is a plus

Spoken and written languages

• English

• Swedish (plus)

IT knowledge

Operating systems

• Linux / UNIX

• Virtualization with VMWare or KVM

Hardware

• Cisco UCS

• HP (plus)

Applications

• Cobbler

• Apache

• Tomcat

• HAProxy

Programming languages

• Shell scripting bash/ksh

• Familiarity with packaging systems like DEB or RPM both building and installing
