Function Development Engineer - Engine Control

At RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT you will be a key contributor to the next generation outstanding luxury cars from Volvo. Together with other engineers over the world, you and your team will create innovative human-centric car technology that makes life less complicated and more enjoyable for people. As FUNCTION DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER - ENGINE CONTROL within the group Combustion Control Petrol you are responsible for the development of functionality for the Engine Management System (EMS). The group is responsible for Torque Model, Control of actuators for the Combustion, Knock Control and Combustion Setpoints. Your challenge is to develop technical solutions that will have a great impact on how the customer experiences the car and its drivability. You will work in cross functional teams with other groups and EMS-suppliers. Your technical competence, as well as your ability to manage projects, should be strong so that you can make your own decisions and technical conclusions. Your mindset should be analytic and with an aim of finding solutions.

Job profile:

• EMS Algorithm Development for both in-house and supplier software
• Develop methods and tools for the system area
• Plan and manage the given assignment through a cross functional team

Your profile:

• Curious with a very good analytical ability
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Very good practical and theoretical knowledge within internal combustion engines, EMSand the impact on complete vehicle
• Good knowledge of English (spoken and written)
• Preferably experience from software development, embedded systems in particular
• Meritorious is experience in INCA-PC, Matlab, Simulink
• MSc Engineer in mechanical, electronics, applied physics or equivalent. Preferably a Ph.D. in Control Theory and/or Internal Combustion Engines
• Drivers license (B) is a requirement
