The Administration Directorate at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for a System Developer.

Description of directorate/division
Information Technology division's main responsibilities are to maintain, improve, advise and lead the work on the ESS platform to meet the needs of the project for both today and tomorrow.

At present the IT division is made up of five permanent employees and four full-time consultants, working within numerous different fields. Our clients mainly operate OS X, but with some aspects of windows and Linux as well. Most servers are Windows based, and the rest in different areas of NIX.   

Description of main responsibilities
The Developer will be responsible for configuring and customising the ENOVIA V6 platform in accordance with existing business requirements, and for providing in-depth expertise in analysing production issues.
Typical tasks and responsibilities consist of:
• Analyse problems and suggest solutions
• Estimate, design and implement solutions
• Produce and update system documentation
• Manage builds to different environments
• Construct development tests 

Qualifications
Bachelor or Masters degree with a technical major, such as computer engineering or informatics
The right candidate is well-proven and documented knowledge and skills in the following technologies:
• Enovia V6 platform
• Java 6
• Web development (javascript, ajax, jsp, json, css, html, xslt)
Its also important that you are familiar with programming best practices and design patterns an experienced in development testing; e.g. automated testing and load testing.
Experience of working in an international environment is essential.

Excellent oral and written English skills are a prerequisite; knowledge of other European languages would be an advantage.

The European Spallation Source ESS AB will design, build and operate a multi-disciplinary, large-scale research infrastructure based on the world's most powerful neutron source. ESS will provide scientists with unique and powerful neutron scattering instruments for the study of a large range of materials - from polymers and pharmaceuticals to membranes and molecules. The ESS project is partnered by 17 European countries, and hosted by Sweden and Denmark. The ESS will be built in Lund, Sweden, by a collaboration of European scientists and engineers. ESS is planned to produce the first neutrons by 2019. When the facility is in full operation 2025, ESS has around 450 employees.
