Would you like to contribute to the safe use of medicines and vaccines globally? We are looking for a full-stack system developer at Uppsala Monitoring Centre. You will join a multicultural, dynamic environment with a clear focus on ensuring global patient safety.

Since 1978, Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) has been dedicated to developing, supporting, and expanding the field of pharmacovigilance science and practice.

As a World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre, we support work around the world to examine the potential adverse effects of medicines and vaccines and contribute to safer, more informed care of patients.

About the role

As a System Developer at UMC, you will join an agile DevOps team responsible for building, improving, and operating digital solutions used in a complex international context.

We are looking for a full-stack system developer with experience in modern development practices and an interest in working across the full application lifecycle, from design and implementation to testing, deployment, and continuous improvement.

You will work in a collaborative, inclusive environment where learning, quality, and shared ownership are central. The role offers opportunities to solve complex problems, influence technical direction, support team growth, and explore new ways of working, including AI-assisted development.

What you will do

Collaborate with product management and contribute to the product roadmap
Design, implement, test, and maintain software solutions
Participate in release, deployment, and operational activities
Optimise and improve both new and existing applications
Share knowledge and support continuous improvement across the team
Continuously learn through new challenges and projects

Who you are

A team-oriented developer who values collaboration and strong team dynamics
Able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experienced in system development and DevOps practices
Focused on quality and solution-oriented problem-solving
Familiar with cloud technologies and cloud-native approaches
Curious and open to new tools and ways of working

Ideally, you are

Experienced in data science and machine learning
Interested in training, testing, and integrating machine learning models
Experienced in data science and machine learning

Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) is an independent, self-funded, non-profit foundation established in 1978 dedicated to safer use of medicines and vaccines. Through an agreement between the Government of Sweden and the World Health Organization (WHO), UMC operates the Programme for International Drug Monitoring, supporting over 180 member countries and regions in strengthening safety surveillance, and maintains VigiBase, the WHO global database of adverse event reports. In addition, UMC provides international standards and related digital solutions for secure exchange of pharmacovigilance data, including a global medicine and vaccine terminology for identification of medicinal products. With around 200 staff, UMC advances the science of pharmacovigilance and transforms its practice through technological innovation.

UMC's working language is English. We normally apply a probationary period to new appointments.
