As System Engineer, your mission will cover several technical areas, which provides great opportunities to a varied and developing work. Your main task will be to work with system design of our plants to assure highest quality and robustness. Your tasks will include main circuit design and related design studies as well as possibilities to perform power system studies in order to verify the plants' performance in our customer's network. As our plants are built using advanced power electronics based upon the latest technology, we can offer great opportunities to strengthen your skills within converter technology and automatic control.
The role as System Designer is the foundation in our delivery projects and involves coordination and communication with all disciplines. In your role you will have close connection to research and development activities for our complete product portfolio. As Sweden is the global lead center for FACTS technology within ABB, you will be in frequent contact with the other engineering disciplines, sub suppliers, project managers, customers and other ABB units in an international environment.
You hold an M.Sc in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Physics or similar. You may be experienced within power systems analysis, power semiconductor technology or substation design. It is preferred that you have knowledge in several of the programs and tools we are using: Matlab, PSCAD/EMTDC , DIgSILENT PowerFactory and PSS®E.
Since we work in an international environment it is essential that you communicate fluently in English. Additional language skills are qualifying. Your ability to work independently as well as in a team and to assume responsibility for given tasks is a key to success.
It is essential that you have good communication skills and can work in a dynamic and multicultural environment. We believe that you are a curious person with the ability to challenge yourself for continuous development.
You will be part of FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission Systems) in Västerås, a business unit within the Power Systems division. The FACTS technology enables power system owners to increase capacity in the existing power system while the electrical stability improves. As a result, more power reaches the customers at a minimal environmental impact and at lower investment costs compared to alternative solutions. At the FACTS unit in Västerås, is now expanding the team that develops and delivers this groundbreaking technology to customers in the global market.
