Everybody talks about Smart Grids. We supply the solutions to customers all over the world. That is why we are looking for you who want to work with advanced technology in an international team. As System Engineer, your mission will cover several technical areas, which entails great opportunities to a varied and developing work. Your main task will be to work with system design of our plants. This means optimization of main circuit solutions with regards to performance and costs, losses, sound and availability. You will develop strategies for control and relay protection as well as participate in measurements and power system studies in order to verify the plants? performance. As our plants are built using advanced power electronics based upon thyristors and the latest IGBT technology, we can offer great opportunities to deepen your skills within converter technology and automatic control.

We believe that you hold a M.Sc in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Physics. You may be experienced within power systems analysis, power semiconductor technology or relay protection. You may also recently have graduated. Both alternatives are of interest and the position can be adapted according to your profile. It is an advantage if you have knowledge in the programs and tools we are using: PSCAD/EMTDC, Matlab, PowerFactory and PSS/E. Since we work in an international environment it is essential that you communicate fluently in English. Additional language skills are qualifying. Your ability to work independently and to assume responsibility is a key to success. You enjoy collaborating in teams to reach common goals and you take responsibility for your tasks within the given time frames.

In your role you will take responsibility for time schedule, budget follow up and quality control of your work during the entire project execution process. As Sweden is the lead center for FACTS technology within ABB, you will be in frequent contact with the other engineering disciplines, sub suppliers, project managers, customers and local ABB units.

You will be part of FACTS in Västerås, a business unit within the Power Systems division. The FACTS technology enables power system owners to increase capacity in the existing power system while the electrical stability improves. As a result, more power reaches the customers at a minimal environmental impact, shorter project time and at lower investment costs. At the FACTS unit in Västerås, we develop and sell this groundbreaking technology to customers around the world.
