You will be part of FACTS within the Grid & Power Quality Solutions (G&PQS) team in Västerås. FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission Systems) technology enables power system owners to increase capacity in the existing electric power system while improving electrical stability. As a result, more power reaches the customer with a minimal environmental impact and at lower investment costs compared to alternative solutions. The FACTS unit of G&PQS in Västerås, Sweden, is now expanding the team which develops and delivers this state-of-the-art technology to customers in the global market. We are looking for you who want to be part of enabling grids for the future.
As a global leader in FACTS technology, we supply FACTS solutions to customers all over the world. The power system is currently undergoing a tremendous change on a global level. Traditional fossil power plants are being decommissioned and replaced with renewable energy sources and power exchange between countries. Our technology supports the stability in the grid enabling this energy transition. We are now expanding our team to meet the global demand for our technology. That is why we are looking for you who want to work with advanced technology in an international environment.
Your responsibilities
Your main task will be to work with system design of our plants to assure highest quality and robustness in our delivery projects and tenders.
You will be in close contact with the other engineering disciplines, sub-suppliers, project managers, customers and other ABB units globally
You will also have close connection to research and development activities for our complete product portfolio.
Defining the overall technical solutions and requirements for involved main components. As a System Design Engineer, your mission will cover several technical areas, which provide great opportunities for varied and developing work
Your tasks will include main circuit design and related design studies as well as possibilities to perform power system studies to verify the plants' performances in our customers' networks
You will be responsible for the entire System Design's scope in delivery projects and to coordinate the all related tasks to ensure we deliver on time and within budget.
Your background:
You hold an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Physics or similar.
You are experienced within power systems analysis, power semiconductor technology or substation design.
Your ability to work independently as well as in a team and to assume responsibility for given tasks is a key to success.
Good communication skills and can work in a dynamic and multicultural environment.
You are a curious person with the ability to challenge yourself for continuous development in both short and long term.
Knowledge in the programs and tools we are using is qualifying: Matlab, PSCAD/EMTDC, DIgSILENT PowerFactory and PSS®E.
Previous experience in working with analysis of inertia implementation and grid forming control in power systems is qualifying.
You are fluent in English both spoken and written.
