System Design Engineer, Steering

At RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT you will be a key contributor to the next generation outstanding luxury cars from Volvo. Together with other engineers around the world, you and your team will create innovative human-centric car technology that makes life less complicated and more enjoyable for people. As SYSTEM DESIGN ENGINEER, STEERING within the group Steering Electronics and Functions you will be responsible for the complete control system including electronic hardware and software.

To deliver your task you will communicate and cooperate across many functions of the company. You will also be involved in setting requirements and securing implementation of supplier deliveries into future car programs. Steering Electronics and Functions is part of the Chassis department. Chassis develop first class mechanics, electronics and software for suspension, brakes and steering. Chassis has passion for developing technology to fulfil aggressive targets and aim to be the leading actor in the areas of active safety and vehicle dynamics.

Job profile:

• Collect and document system requirements in terms of vehicle Dynamics attributes, functions, legal requirements etc
• Develop a system lay-out with hardware and software components, interfaces to other systems etc to fulfill all requirements
• Define and compose safety mechanisms to fulfill system safety goals
• Collaborate with System Engineers for interfacing systems to assure correct communication
• Support concept- and project leaders in developing correct quality assurance plans, balance conflicting requirements etc

Your profile:

• Independent, self-driven and thorough
• Open minded, innovative and business oriented
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Great experience from development of electronic hardware and software for embedded systems in industrial applications
• Great knowledge of English (spoken and written)
• University degree in Electronics, Physics, Mechanics, or equivalent professional experience
• Meritorious is experience from the automotive industry and the safety standard ISO 26262
• Drivers license (B) is a requirement
