About our R&D - AD and ADAS platform
Our department consists of around 200 people that are responsible for the Active safety platform and enabling driver assistance and collision avoidance functions. We are also responsible for making Autonomous Drive become a reality for the customer.
To make this happen we are working closely with different stakeholders, function owners, software developers and other sensor teams, responsible for state-of-the-art LiDAR's as well as cameras, radars and ultrasonic sensors.
Within our team we are working with Radar design platform that includes System design, high level SW architecture, SW Integration & verification and selecting our sensor suppliers.
We are now looking for a System Design Engineer
You will be a member in a group of 20, divided in smaller teams. You have a solid system design background and a passion for system design, radar technology, software, and cars! We see that you are skilled in system safety standards and experienced with agile development. It is important that you are a structured and a self-motivated team player that will contribute and collaborate. You want to be a part of developing the next generation premium Volvo Cars and lead us into the future.
This is a broad area which gives you a great opportunity to build a solid and holistic vehicle control view, and develop skills in concept development and requirement writing, planning and coordination.
Your key tasks
As a System Design Engineer for Radars, you will be in the center of the component development. You will design the Radar system architecture and define its interfaces to secure the integration of the component with the main Core Computing system. Your responsibilities include the handshake and breakdown of functional and non-functional requirements to modules, components and interfaces. In your work you need to be able to work in a structured way, adopt to new tools (System weaver, Team Center, Elektra), have a good communication and collaboration with your stakeholders, such us Solution Architects, sensor suppliers, Function and sensor fusion teams. You need to have the ability to balance expectations and needs in upcoming platforms. It will be a close collaboration between teams working with development of sensors, software, sensor fusion, applications, and verification.
To be able to do that you will have competence within System engineering and Software development, experience in writing requirements. Knowledge on ISO26262 and Cyber Security is beneficial.
Do you fit the profile?
You have strong leadership skills for delegating tasks or directing the work of others. Keen attention to details is important and you are highly organized - especially when planning out a complex system design and the many components involved. You have ability to communicate and work well with others to ensure functionality in their design and being able to meet strict deadlines.
You have:
• MSc/BSc within electronics, mechatronics, software or similar.
• More than 5 years of experience from system design work.
• Experience from working with system safety and has knowledge about Cyber security
• Experience from different tools and protocols e.g., Ethernet, TCP/IP, CAN.
• Experience in Python, Simulink or C/C++.
• Driver's license (B-level), valid in EU.
• Good communication skills in English (speech and writing)
Who are You?
We see that you have experience of relevant Volvo Cars product development processes and tools(CarWeaver/SystemWeaver, DSA, Carconfig). You need experience from programming e.g., Python or CAPL, have competence within radar domain like sensor performance verification, system design or understanding of vehicle architecture, Vector tools; CANoe & CANalyser, creating simulations based on the vehicle network, knowledge regarding ISO26262. It is great if you have experience of writing and executing test cases both in cars and HIL, and analyzing and identifying faults, analyzing the field issues.
Fluent in English both written and spoken and have knowledge within software and Hardware design the automotive sector. Driver's license "B" valid in EU (European Union) is needed and knowledge in Volvo Cars agile development is meritorious.
