System Design Engineer Chassis Electronics

Active Safety and Chassis is a unit within Research and Development at Volvo Cars. We are passionate in developing technology that enables Volvo Cars to fulfill its aggressive targets to be leading in the areas of Active Safety and Vehicle Dynamics. The Chassis department is supporting these ambitions by developing first class mechanics, electronics and software for Suspension, Brakes and Steering. As a System Design Engineer you will be responsible for the complete control system including signal handling and software integration. You will work in the functional area of Tyre Pressure Monitoring to develop future systems.

Main responsibilities
• Collection and documentation of system requirements in terms of Vehicle Dynamics attributes, functions, Legal requirements etc.
• Development of a system lay-out with hardware and software components, interfaces to other systems to fulfill all requirements
• Definition and composition of safety mechanisms to fulfill system safety goals
• Requirement handling in a database environment
• Alignment discussion with representatives for other involved functions and systems to agree on signal handling and requirements
• Supporting task leader with releases of requirement documentation
• Participation in supplier reviews and meetings to secure integration
• Participation in quality assurance activities

Required qualifications
• MSc or BSc in Electrical engineering, Mechatronics or similar competence through other education and /or professional experience
• You have at least three years of experience from development of electronic hardware and software for embedded systems in industrial applications
• You have a passion for cars and a valid drivers license
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
• Meritorious is knowledge in the Swedish language
• Meritorious is competence within RF communication
• Meritorious is experience from product development in the car industry
