Vehicle Automation is the new organization within Volvo Group that has the responsibility to drive, lead and develop the area of Automation technology.
Software Engineering builds the brain of Volvo 's fully self-driving vehicles. Our software allows our vehicles to make the right decision for every situation, and deliver goods safely to their destinations.
Transport Mission & Route Management within Vehicle Automation is now looking for a new colleague.
Our mission is to build part of the brain of Volvo 's self-driving vehicles. We develop the prediction horizon technology, decision and control technology within the transport mission and route management, it includes decision of destination, speed, route and activities along the transportation. We set requirements of a control mission management system that will enable control of self-driving vehicles status and new offerings towards customers.

What You Will Do
As a Senior Principal System Design Engineer your core responsibilities and activities are:
Lead and drive system design related activities within mission and route technology
Secure competitive and timely system solutions for the application needs
Contribute to the implementation of platform strategies
Contribute to the development of technical roadmaps and system architecture roadmaps
Lead concept investigation with teams and take the concept for approval through different decision forums
Request technical concepts and system solutions
Manage the interfaces and non-functional requirements within the scope of, for example, agile release train

Must-have Skills
Master in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent)
5-10 Years' experience in Automotive Industry
Strong knowledge of System complexity
Knowledge in Automation and robotics technology.
Passion for new technology and autonomous solutions
Solid communication skill
Winning attitude and team working skills
Customer oriented mindset
Entrepreneurial Thinking
English fluent (written and verbal)
You understand software engineering and have an end customer focus, delivery precision, patience, a coaching mind-set and good communication skills.

Beneficial skills
Beneficial skills and experience include Programming and simulation and modeling. Experience with python, C, Java, C# and C++ programming skills, vehicle dynamics, restraints, braking and steering systems skills are a plus
