Do you want to be at the forefront of developing electric vehicles and sustainable transportation? Do you want to use your embedded software engineering skills to develop real tangible solutions that will change the way we live and work? If so, apply today.
The position
The role of the System Design Engineer is to work with system changes and new features to our electric driveline. You are responsible for defining requirements and working with the electric propulsion management system to develop solutions for meeting those requirements. For many software developers, this represents an exciting next step in their career.
Who are we and what do we do
Electro Propulsion is a department within Volvo Group Trucks Technology, which is responsible for developing the electric driveline. The driveline and its components are supplied to all of the Volvo Group's brands and used in trucks, buses, construction equipment, marine and industrial applications. We are a global team who are all passionate about technology and changing the world.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for someone with a Master of Science in Electronics, Data science, Software engineering, Mechatronics or similar. Ideally you have 6-8 years' experience working with embedded software design and development or embedded system design and development. It is an advantage to have documented experience working in an agile development environment or from working with functional safety in automotive products and applications. Extended experience with propulsion systems in battery electric vehicles and experience from traction voltage systems/components is also valued.
As a person, you should be a good communicator, be effective at planning and prioritising tasks, solid technical leadership, be results oriented and willing to challenge the current norms, and be fluent in both written and verbal English.
You can take decisions, engage and inspire, have confidence in your abilities to influence outcomes, are structured and creative, and passionate about networking across functions to achieve shared objectives.
What we can offer
We are offering you an exciting opportunity to work with completely new technology and help develop full-electric propulsion systems for a range of different vehicles and machinery. The Volvo Group has high ambitions when it comes to sustainability and CO2 emissions. By playing such an important role in the company's electromobility development, you will be a key contributor to achieving those targets.
As a large, global company, we can also offer multiple career paths for further growth and development. This can either be more senior roles within the same technical area, expansion into new technical areas or switching to management roles.
