hela Sverige The Administration Directorate at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for a System Administrator.
Description of directorate/division
Information Technology division main responsibilities is to maintain, improve, advise and lead the work on the ESS platform to met the need of the project of both today and tomorrow.
We are today 5 permant employees and 4 fulltime consultants working in the IT division, within numerous different fields. Our clients mainly operate OS X, but with some hints of windows and Linux as well. Most servers are Windows based, and the rest different flavors of NIX.
Description of main responsibilities
The System Administrator (SA) is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure.
Typical tasks and repsonsibilities consist of:
• Maintain and Patch existing Nix and Windows Servers
• Plan, develop and transition services
• Further help virtualize our environment
• Install and configure hardware related to infrastructure
• Operate backup routines
Qualifications
Bachelor or Masters degree, with a technical major, such as computer engineering or science.
Well proven and documented knowledge and skills in the following technologies:
• Micorosoft Windows Server 2008
• Active Directory
• Exchange 2010
• VMware vSphere
• Linux/Solaris Server
Certification in ITIL Foundation v3 or greater.
Four to six years system administration experience.
Experience of working in an international environment is essential.
Excellent oral and written English skills are a prerequisite; knowledge of other European languages would be an advantage.

The position is permanent with six months initial probationary period.

The European Spallation Source ESS AB will design, build and operate a multi-disciplinary, large-scale research infrastructure based on the world's most powerful neutron source. ESS will provide scientists with unique and powerful neutron scattering instruments for the study of a large range of materials - from polymers and pharmaceuticals to membranes and molecules. The ESS project is partnered by 17 European countries, and hosted by Sweden and Denmark. The ESS will be built in Lund, Sweden, by a collaboration of European scientists and engineers. ESS is planned to produce the first neutrons by 2019. When the facility is in full operation 2025, ESS has around 450 employees.
