Ericsson is a world’s leading provider of technology and services to telecom operators. The company’s portfolio comprises mobile and fixed network infrastructure, telecom services, software, broadband and multimedia solutions for operators, enterprises and the media industry.

Development unit Radio’s goal is to be the most competitive Radio Network R&D unit in the industry. We are market leaders in competitive, high-quality Radio products which gives our customer solutions securing future growth. We currently develop GSM, WCDMA as well as LTE Network solutions to operators all over the world.

PDU Platform within development unit Radio provides Ericsson with a scalable platform which today is the core in our successful WCDMA, LTE and MGW solutions. The PDU is a global organization with people in Kista, Croatia, India, Russia and China.

The Network Synchronization (Net Sync) unit within PDU Platform develops the crucial Net Sync functionality for both WCDMA and LTE. We are responsible for the functionality all the way from development phase through early deployment to maintenance.

In the Next Generation Packet Based Networks synchronization is more important than ever. Packet based sync methods like sNTP or PTP over IP requires advanced control algorithms and delicate packet selection mechanisms.

Ericsson launched Sync over IP (via sNTP) early 2008 and today we have over 200.000 own developed in-built sNTP clients in our RBSes running Sync over IP. This makes us world leading in this area with a unique base of experience.

Time sync dependent standards and features (e.g. TDD and eMBMS) have stringent requirements on accuracy. This, together with small cells and limited possibilities for expensive sync equipment in the networks, puts high demands on the sync solution. We strive to develop sync solutions, methods and algorithms that will add significant value to our customers.
