The International School of the Stockholm Region is a publically funded international school which exists primarily to serve the educational needs of the transient and/or international community of Stockholm. The school runs the International Baccalaureate's curricula and educates students from over 40 countries. The Primary Years Programme (PYP) is offered to students from 5-11 years of age and the Middle Years Programme (MYP) is offered to students from 11-16 and the Diploma Program for students 16-19. The schools language of instruction is English for all subjects except languages. In addition, Thus at ISSR students receive an internationally-recognized education in English from 5 to 19 years of age in one location in the center of Stockholm.
1 plats(er).This spring ISSR will need a part-time (80%) Swedish and Humanities (SO) teacher for the Middle Years Program (högstadiet, ages 11-15.
The Swedish instruction is targeted at children who have Swedish backgrounds and thus are fluent in Swedish verbally, but potentially haven't maintained their reading/writing due to living abroad. There will be a wide variety of abilities and exposure to Swedish so differentiation will be a must. The curriculum is a combination of the Swedish national curriculum Lgr11 and the MYP goals and objectives.
The Humanities instruction is taught entirely in English and follows the Lgr11 curriculum and the MYP goals and objectives for assessment.
Working as part of the MYP there are explicit expectations to work closely (collaborate) with the teachers in the MYP to facilitate learning. Working as part of a team is an intrinsic part of this position. Preference will be made for candidates who have interest and experience working in English and having lived and worked abroad in an international setting.
A qualified candidate will be:
• A university educated teacher in Swedish or an English speaking country
• Experience working abroad, ideally in an international school setting
• Experience working with culturally diverse language learners
• International and/or IB teaching experience
• Near native English competency
• Highly competent with IT (Windows platform, Smartboard and other tools for learning).
Anställningsform: Tidsbegränsad.
Krav på arbetslivserfarenhet: Erfarenhet krävs. Responsibilities include:
• Planning high quality lessons and ongoing documentation of student achievement
• Maintaining an engaging and organized learning environment
• Maintaining ongoing parent/school communication
• Participating in school activities (assemblies, evening events, conferences, etc.)
• Mentorship for approximately 15 students
• Planning with colleagues across the school
• Continued professional development
