About the Role
As a Software Developer you will be a crucial part of the R&D team, developing innovative software solutions as we evolve and digitize vacuum conveying. You will be developing embedded SW solutions for products used to improve an automate material flow across various industries such as pharmaceuticals, food processing, chemical production and additive manufacturing. You will be involved throughout the entire innovation process, from idea generation and validation to the implementation and deployment of novel software products or features.
We are looking for
A highly motivated individual with passion for exploring ideas aiming to expand the functionality and performance of our products. You should enjoy taking part of the different phases of product development from the pre-study to product launch including performing hands-on verification activities conveying material in our test lab.
A person with strong analytic abilities who can break down complex problems and present applicable solutions
A self-propelled individual comfortable working independently on assigned tasks as well as taking an active part in the project team to share your ideas and knowledge.
An open minded person with a positive can-do attitude who embrace a diverse work day and are not afraid of helping out when needed, even when the task is not within the typical role as a software engineer.
Skills, knowledge, and experience:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer science or equivalent
5+ years of Proven experience in embedded software development for Linux, with a focus on the Python programming language.
Deep understanding of embedded systems architecture and design principles.
Experience with UI/UX design and implementation using Qt
Proficiency in low-level programming languages (C/C++) is a plus.
Familiarity with hardware interfaces and communication protocols.
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and issue tracking tools.
Excellent written and verbal English skills
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Interest of contributing and driving "continuous improvement" activities, within the software domain for instance with automated testing.
Programming PLC is a merit.
What you will do
Design, develop, test, and maintain our software solutions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define software requirements for embedded systems.
Leverage your knowledge of developing Python code in a Linux environment to create develop our conveying controller software.
Conduct thorough testing and debugging to identify and resolve issues, including hands-on testing in lab
Create and maintain documentation for software requirements, design and testing processes.
Identify opportunities for code and process improvements.
Collaborate with hardware engineers to ensure tight integration between software and hardware components.
Work closely with other software developers to maintain code consistency and best practices.
Keep abreast of emerging trends and technologies in embedded systems and Python development.
Participate in knowledge-sharing activities within the team.
You will report to the R&D director, Vacuum conveying division and the position is located at Piab's HQ in Stockholm, Danderyd.
