hela Sverige The Programme Directorate at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for a "Survey and Alignment Lead Engineer".
Description of position/department
The Design Office contributes to the overall design and integration of ESS.
Main areas are CAD and Data Management, Design Engineering and Integration.
The work is performed in remote-design collaboration with our partners around Europe.
Description of main responsibilities
The candidate should manage and lead the Survey and Alignment Group, establish personnel needs, qualification and training for physics, engineering and technical resources for the Survey and Alignment Group.
Advise appropriate engineering groups on design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of equipment stands and support systems, monument systems and other alignment systems for ESS.
Main tasks * Supervise and manage the Survey and Alignment Group in establishing performance requirements and designs, development of coordinate systems, monument systems, alignment fixtures, methodologies and tracking systems for alignment of ESS technical systems.
• Develop and implement plans for alignment instrumentation and techniques, and required infrastructure for support and maintenance of ESS alignment.
• Prepare, collect and maintain the full set of documentation and drawings of coordinate and monument systems, and records of settlement history for accelerator tunnel and technical components.
• Develop personnel requirements for the Survey and Alignment Group, including training and certification requirements for staff.
The Survey & Alignment need to effectively interface with many different groups to achieve one common plan for the ESS alignment plan and strategies.
Qualifications
• Bachelor/Master degree in science or engineering 5-7 years experience in survey and alignment of accelerator systems.
• The candidate must have 1-2 years experience in a leadership position within a technical development/support group for accelerator equipment is a must.
• Experience of working in an international environment is essential.
• Excellent oral and written English skills are a prerequisite; knowledge of other European languages would be an advantage.What ESS can offer

The European Spallation Source ESS AB will design, build and operate a multi-disciplinary, large-scale research infrastructure based on the world's most powerful neutron source. ESS will provide scientists with unique and powerful neutron scattering instruments for the study of a large range of materials - from polymers and pharmaceuticals to membranes and molecules. The ESS project is partnered by 17 European countries, and hosted by Sweden and Denmark. The ESS will be built in Lund, Sweden, by a collaboration of European scientists and engineers. ESS is planned to produce the first neutrons by 2019. When the facility is in full operation 2025, ESS has around 450 employees.
