There is almost always something going on in Hattrick and our users expect the site to be online around the clock, every day of the year.
We are now looking for an experienced developer to join our support team, responsible for keeping the site up and running. As a member of the support team you will handle problems on the site and work to resolve them swiftly, with the core development team if necessary. You will also work proactively to implement warning systems and maintenance tools that reduce the need for emergency work.
Your experience
We are looking for a senior developer with a couple years experience of working in a support organization. It is a plus if you have experience as a manager or project leader, or both. As a developer we think you are solution-oriented, pragmatic and like working in a dynamic environment.
Candidates should have experience from all of the categories below.
SQL Server development and administration
Hattrick generates a lot of data that is stored in a number of
Microsoft SQL Server databases. You will spend lots of time digging through procedures and fixing data inconsistency problems. Together with a support technician you will also be responsible for keeping the servers up and running as fast as possible.
Backend application development in .NET and Visual Basic 6
On the backend of Hattrick there are many small (and large)
applications running that control everything from simulating matches to deleting old data, based on a detailed scheduling system. All of these applications will be under your supervision.
Web development with ASP.NET
Hattrick.org is implemented using ASP.NET and a number of supporting technologies, such as distributed caching solutions. You will need to configure these and occasionally fix problems in the web code.
Community web sites
Hattrick is a very active community with 750.000 active users. It is
important that you have experience of working in a similar environment as you will be in direct contact with users through our forums and other channels. Experience from Hattrick itself is a huge plus, as that means an understanding of how the community works.
Language skills
You need a strong working knowledge of English, and of at least one other major Hattrick language, such as Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch or Polish.
