General description of Supplier Quality Assurance function
The Supplier Quality Assurance department, belonging to Group Trucks Purchasing, is driving the global supplier base towards premium automotive quality standards. The department is responsible to continuously improve the supplier base and the quality of the purchased parts. The three main customers for the Supplier Quality Assurance department in Europe are Volvo Trucks, Renault Trucks and Volvo Bus.

Job description:
The job as a Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is exciting and often rewarding, working for the benefit of the Customer Satisfaction, in contact with multiple internal and external stakeholders.

From the sourcing stage up to the running production, the main tasks assigned to the SQA are:
• To evaluate Surface Treatment (coating) supplier lines and facilities, managing their development plan up to the excellence level required by the Volvo standards.
• To support the new part developments, securing the suppliers ability to coat the parts according to the specification on robust manufacturing processes.
• To lead the supplier continuous improvements as well as being entitled to steer strong reaction in case of supplier performance deviation.
• To support the purchasers with recommendations when it comes to expertise upon surface treatment & chemical supplier base.
• To contribute to the Surface Treatment Supplier Quality Global Network, working on new standard inputs, continuously improving the assessment tool and permanently monitoring the new technology and their opportunities.

From business holistic view down to sharp technical details, the SQE all time demonstrates an excellent analytic competence as well as a very good leadership skill, also communicating with great ease in a multicultural environment.

On top of a positive team-player attitude, precision, rigor, autonomy and proactivity are part of the SQE behaviours as well as being able to capitalize experience and learn from the fly. The SQE demonstrates a high "welcome to the problem" attitude and likes challenges.

The SQE builds and develops a large network made of partners from Suppliers, Buyers, Engineering, Standard Group, Production Plants, Project Stakeholders, Warranty Department, etc.

Within its own department, the SQE belong to a regional team focused on performance, both on supplier results and its own efficiency. Opportunities exist for the SQE to attend to internal continuous improvement activities aiming for leaner working processes.

The SQE is ready for frequent travels (up to 3-4 times per month during some periods) and manage its business in English language.

Qualifications:
• Preferred Bachelor in Chemistry or Material Engineering, or >5 years of technical experience needed in surface treatment chemistry, and its application on metal & plastics.
• Experience upon the Surface Treatment (coating) application processes and its management within automotive business.
• Good knowledge and practice of automotive quality standards and tools, such as ISO/TS 16949, process audit and problem solving.
• Good English communication, orally and in writing, plus local language.
• Car driving licence.
