At Inbound Logistics, you are part of a global supply team that makes sure that the cars we build meet the highest expectations from our customers. To make this happen, we secure that all incoming transportation is designed, established, optimized, and executed, cost efficiently and with exact precision, to the entire Volvo Cars organisation.
We are right now recruiting for 5 positions to work in our Inbound Operations EMEA team during the period June to August 2021.
The role, Summer Intern Inbound Operations EMEA, is located within the Inbound Logistics organization (IBL) and offers 10 weeks insight into our supply chain as well as being a small but important part of the Volvo Cars growth journey. With our recent announcements there has never been a more exciting time to be a part of the team. The role is mix of operational and performance management tasks including problem solving across a range of transport modes within Volvo Cars and is based in Gothenburg, Sweden.
What you will do?
We have positions available in the following teams:
* Inbound Road Operations EMEA - FTL, LTL, LDJIS, Intermodal etc from within Europe
* Multi Modal Operations EMEA - premium/time critical transports, Ocean and Air flows into Europe ex APAC, US etc. plus Train transports within Europe and intercontinental
* Operations Planning - daily assignment of loads to carriers and operational optimisations to ensure when volumes fluctuate the most optimal transport mode is selected.
As a summer intern you will regularly interact with stakeholders within Volvo Cars to address concerns or issues and report feedback regarding process improvements.
Together with the rest of the team you will ensure that all production material will arrive on time and according to plan to our production sites within Europe. You will work both proactive and with problem solving when a deviation is a fact.
You will monitor KPI's of appointed carriers/forwarders and carry out regular reviews as well as lead activities to implement process changes and improvements with stakeholders and carriers/forwarders as appointed. This means that you build and maintain strong relationships with carriers/forwarders. Part of your internship is to develop tools via Robotics, Power BI and similar, to automate daily tasks where applicable. You will belong to a dedicated team and you need to ensure support to colleagues when needed/requested and contribute to a positive team working environment.
Do you fit the profile?
We are looking for candidates studying at a university in Sweden within a relevant area e.g. Supply Chain, Logistics. You should have strong customer-focus and service mind-set with the ability to build and maintain relationships. As you will oversee and plan shipments you have an understanding of general freight forwarding rules/regulations e.g. Inco-terms. It is important that you have ability to maintain composure whilst under pressure. You also need to have the ability to communicate findings and make recommendations therefor we believe that you have strong communication and presentations skills.
The work requires you to able to work alone but also as part of a larger team and this means that you have excellent track record as team player.
To fully adapt to the work, you need to have strong language skills in Swedish and English, spoken and written.
This internship requires that you are on site in the office in Gothenburg.

Duration
Period for summer internship is between 1 June - 31 August 2021, max 10 weeks. Start and end time to be discussed with recruiting manager. The internship is paid.
