Subsystem Designer - Climate & Comfort

At RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT you will be a key contributor to the next generation outstanding luxury cars from Volvo. Together with other engineers over the world, you and your team will create innovative human-centric car technology that makes life less complicated and more enjoyable for people. As SUBSYSTEM DESIGNER within the group Climate Control you are responsible for one or more subsystems in the Climate Control application. This means that you will write the specifications and also set the architecture for the complete model.

The Climate Control group is pioneers in function modelling and in house software (SW) development. The group consists of 15 people and we provide a very dynamic and inspiring environment for a hungry SW developer. You will be a member of a cross functional SCRUM-team and have the possibility to try all the different roles within the team. The different roles are System Responsible, Subsystem Responsible, Team Manager, Function Developer, Test Engineer, Configuration Manager and Specialist. The team has specific processes and tools as well as agile methods as SCRUM. Model based software development and in house SW development, is in the strategy of Volvo Car Corporation and gives a big focus on our operation.

Job profile:

• Set requirements on the sub system
• Create the architecture of the sub system
• Participate in quality assurance of sub system requirements and models
• Participate in quality assurance of sub system architecture
• Creating Simulink models from the Software Requirement Specification
• Make model design choices (using Simulink, Stateflow, Embedded Matlab etc)
• Make model changes
• Create modelling guidelines (automatic and manual checks)
• Write test descriptions and test model in Mx-VDev
• Build SW and perform rig tests (internal releases)
• Calibrate model parameters
• Quality assure the models

Your profile:

• M.Sc. or B.Sc. degree within Physics, Electronics or Computer Engineering
• Experienced in model design (Simulink, Stateflow, Embedded Matlab etc)
• Well developed SW development skills
• Good knowledge in designing control algorithms
• Experience from car industry or consumer market development
• Organised and structured
• High personal energy and integrity
• Business orientation
• Strong team player and interpersonal skills
• Good communication skills
• Fluent in English (spoken and written)
• Experience from working in a SCRUM environment is meritorious
