The role of the Studio Manager is, above all, an administrative one. For 25 hours/week, the Studio Manager will report to both Ellen and Markus and oversee the following:
1) Office Administration
a. The Studio Manager will assume the role of the office manager in which he/she will be responsible for appointments, scheduling as well as management/purchasing of office supplies.
2) Travel and Booking
a. While some appointments may be booked privately, the Studio Manager will be responsible for the general managing of the calendars of both artists. These responsibilities include but are not limited to; booking, travel, exhibitions, meetings and press schedules.
3) Booking keeping
a. The Studio Manager will be in charge of preparing all documents for oversight as well as keeping track of receipts, purchases and payments.
4) Logistics
a. The Studio Manger will be expected to handle tactical logistics. This includes but is not limited to; order fulfillment, art shipments, relationships with carriers, packing and packaging, client communication, price research and private transport.
5) Point of Contact
a. The studio manager will be expected to represent the artists as the point of contact for large orders (ex. cities/municipalities and building developers etc.) as well as art institutions.
EhkÅkesson is looking for an employee who:
1) Has fluent control over both English and Swedish, French is also a plus.
2) Has a well-rounded understanding of modern business practices.
3) Is a hard-working, self-starter.
a. Part of the work will be unsupervised, EhkAkesson is looking for someone who can become part of the Pukeberg team, preferably someone who has experience handling sensitive information.
4) Is flexible.
a. It is important that the employee has the ability to manuever between a traditional administrative role and a creative one, assisting in web design and graphics.
5) Is an appreciator of art.
a. It is not important that this person is looking to have a career in art or is an artist themselves. EhkAkesson is hoping to find someone who can provide a business perspective.
6) Is comfortable working in a family atmosphere.
a. One of the most definitive things about our studio is the spirit of openness that we have established. We share a family life, where all of its members are welcome. This attitude has affected the work and home life of both Ellen and Marcus in a positive way, the studio intends to stay committed to this value. It is imperative that the employee be willing to contribute towards this goal.
We are a small art studio in Nybro, Sweden comprised of the studios of two artists, Ellen Ehk and Markus Åkesson. Our offices are located at Ateljehus Pukeberg in Nybro at the Pukeberg Glasfabrik.
Ellen Ehk is a ceramicist, currently exhibiting at galleries such as Vida Museum on Öland and Berg Gallery in Stockholm. Ellen graduated from HDK, University of Design and Crafts in Gothenburg and has since developed her career to become one of Sweden's foremost emerging ceramic artists.
Markus Åkesson is a painter who also dabbles in glasswork. Markus is currently exhibiting at galleries such as Vida Museum on Öland, and Galerie Da-End in Paris. Marcus has become one of Scandinavia's artists to watch. He has one part-time assistant.
Together, Markus and Ellen started the cooperation of artists who are currently renting space at Pukeberg in 2006. Since that time their careers have continued to develop and EhkÅkesson is now looking to hire a part-time Studio Manager.
