As a student in the Computational Linguistics or Language Technologies field, you are a linguistic specialist with some experience and skills related to Information and Communication Technologies (programming or software development applied to language). You have a real passion for languages and a pragmatic approach to problem solving. You understand the structure of languages and you will be able to encode linguistic information for automated processing.
You will be part of a multinational team that will focus on design, build, maintain and develop language specific knowledge-based systems, in domains such as artificial intelligence, databases, expert systems, and natural language processing systems ? according to the structured Artificial Solutions Knowledge Development Methodology.
The position offers a very valuable learning opportunity in a professional environment, and will allow you to grow both as a person and as a professional within your expert field.
The position will focus upon:
• Work within a multinational project team in workshops and also independently.
• Working with the grammar of your native language (morphology, syntax and semantic aspects) to structure and code knowledge bases for our NLI (Natural Language Interaction) solutions, based on the project specifications.
• Collaborate with the other team members (Computational Linguists, Developers, Project Management team) in defining improvements of the process, tools and workflows related to the project.
Essential Knowledge and Experience:
• Undergraduate or graduate student in Computational Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, Language Technologies or similar.
• Knowledge of Morphology, Lexicology, Phonetics, Pragmatics, Automated speech analysis and synthesis.
• Knowledge of Formal syntax, Formal Semantics, Corpus analysis, Dialogue management, Parsing, or Human Computer Interaction.
• Understanding of Statistics (preferably applied to natural language analysis) / Mathematics
• Working knowledge of programming languages such as Prolog, or any of the declarative languages (C, C++, Java, Pascal, etc.) and DB/SQL.
Language skills:
• Native English, or Native Spanish, Swedish, German, Dutch, Italian, Norwegian, Danish, Chinese (Mandarin) with fluent English.
• A combination of the above languages or any additional languages are a strong plus
Personal Skills and Abilities:
• Logical and analytical skills, being able to deal with complex and abstract concepts.
• Professional attitude, detail-oriented and organized, able to follow a plan.
• Ability to work well both alone and within a larger team.
• Flexible and open-minded, pragmatic and proactive, problem solving approach.
• Ability to work in multi-functional teams.
• Enthusiastic about Computational Linguistics and Natural Language solutions.
