The SKF Group Manufacturing Development Centre in Gothenburgis the central research and development facility for manufacturing processes used in SKF. With 65 employees of various nationalities its role is to reinforce SKF's technical leadership in manufacturing and processing of rolling bearings and related products.

Steel supply is important and essential for the success and the growth of the SKF Group.
SKF Group Technology Development -GTD and the Manufacturing Development Centre - MDC have a vital role in the process of Steel supply and approval of Steel suppliers.
The major challenge will be to develop and approve steel suppliers in Asia to support the rapid growth in the region.
We are looking for Steel Technology Specialists, who together with Group Demand Chain can drive the Steel supplier development.
Key tasks
• Coordinate and perform activities in the approval process for steel / semi-finished products.
• Knowledge and competence provider of Steel technologies in committees and decision bodies.
• Take an active part in the testing and evaluation of steel / semi-finished product suppliers and giving recommendations for use in SKF.
• Actively participate in setting strategies on steel product supply routes and for initial definition of potential steel suppliers.
• Define R&D activities in line with the Group strategic direction.
• Define project teams and set up targets and main activities for technology projects in cooperation with Divisions and Group functions.
• Follow-up project results in assigned areas.
• Ensure that the delivered results are in-line with division objectives.
Requirements
• University degree (preferably a PhD) in Metallurgy / Engineering or equivalent
• Deep understanding and long experience of steel making processes from the melting shop to forming operations.
• Understanding of steel properties and the resulting bearing performance
• People management and/or team leading experience with ability to develop teams to meet current and future challenges (according to SKF values).
• Experience with project management.
• Experience of working within process developments and a broad technical understanding and interest.
• Ability to interact and create shared commitment at different organizational levels.
• Good communication skills.
• Being fluent in English is a prerequisite.
• High level of personal drive and commitment.
• The job requires travelling abroad.
