But we're more than one of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies. At AstraZeneca, we're proud to have a unique workplace culture that inspires innovation and collaboration. Here, employees are empowered to express diverse perspectives - and are made to feel valued, energized and rewarded for their ideas and creativity.
As one of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies, AstraZeneca is focused on providing innovative, effective medicines that make a real difference in important areas of healthcare. We employ 66,000 staff around the world and spend $16 million every working day on research and development.
The arena
You will become part of Statistics & Programming which is a department within AstraZeneca Global Clinical Development function. In Mölndal we are today around 40 statisticians, which makes us one of the largest groups of statisticians in northern Europe. Recent R&D decisions have given the Mölndal site increased responsibility by adding early phase development of Respiratory and Inflammation projects to the existing responsibilities for Cardiovascular & Gastrointestinal projects. In addition, the Mölndal site has been selected as one of three global centers for late phase development.
We are now recruiting to several permanent positions.
The role
Statisticians in AstraZeneca are involved at every stage of the drug development process. You will be an indispensable part of our multi-disciplinary teams and play an active role in driving the strategy for development of medicines that make a real difference to our patients across the world. As a statistician in clinical development you will provide statistical expertise in the design, planning, evaluation and documentation of clinical studies and programs in all phases of clinical development. This will also include work of more exploratory character, e.g. modeling and simulation, as well as other means to improve decision making. Depending on your experience you might also be expected to contribute to more strategic planning, act as expert in our contact with external providers, coach more junior staff and be involved in adapting and developing statistical methodology. That means we can offer the chance to be influential in drug development and the opportunity to gain experience on a range of challenging and exciting projects. You will occupy a vital and important position as you supply the statistical expertise that underpins our clinical programs.
Minimum experience/requirements
These positions require strong technical skills, qualified to at least masters level in statistics, biostatistics, or mathematical statistics. As our work is conducted in cross functional projects in an international environment, good collaboration, communication and influencing skills as well as good written and spoken English are necessary. A successful candidate will have great interest and ability to communicate statistical matters to non-statisticians as well as a genuine interest in the application of statistical methodology in pharmaceutical development.
Preferred experience/requirements
Post-graduate degree as well as experience from drug development or other related fields is an advantage.
