You will become a part of Early Clinical Biometrics, one of the statistical groups at AstraZeneca?s R&D site in Gothenburg.
The position
Early Clinical Biometrics is now recruiting a statistician to a permanent position. The successful candidate will work, together with other statisticians in Early Clinical Biometrics, on clinical projects focusing on two of AstraZeneca's core therapy areas: Respiratory/Inflammation/Autoimmunity and Cardiovascular/Metabolic Diseases.
The role
The successful candidate will be an indispensable member of our multidisciplinary teams and will play an active role in driving the strategy for development of medicines that make a real difference to patients across the world. You will provide statistical expertise to the design, planning, evaluation and documentation of clinical studies and programs. This will also include work of a more exploratory nature, e.g. modeling and simulation as well as other means to improve decision making.
Depending on your interest and experience, you might also be expected to contribute to more strategic planning, quantitative decision making, act as expert in our contact with external providers and collaborators, coach more junior staff and be involved in adapting and developing statistical methodology. That means we can offer the chance to be influential in drug development and the opportunity to gain experience on a range of challenging and exciting projects.
Minimum Experience/Requirements
The position requires strong technical and excellent leadership skills. A minimum required educational level is a master's degree in a relevant discipline such as statistics, biostatistics or mathematical statistics. As our work is conducted in cross functional projects in an international environment, good collaboration, communication and influencing skills, as well as good written and spoken English are necessary. The successful candidate will have a great interest in and ability to communicate statistical matters to non-statisticians as well as a genuine interest in the application of statistical methodology in pharmaceutical development. She/he must be accurate with a keen eye for details and in addition have the ability to see the "big picture".
Preferred experience/requirements
A post-graduate research degree, and/or proven experience from drug development or other related fields is an advantage. Another asset would be experience in using statistical software such as SAS or S-Plus/R.
