Job description
We strategically drive and specify the evolution of WCDMA/HSPA technology in products and standards with a clear business focus, enabling the Mobile Broadband revolution.
Now we need a highly competent system engineer specialized in the Layer 2/Layer 3 aspects of the radio interface to be a part of the Ericsson delegation in 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) - a world-wide standardization body responsible for WCDMA/HSPA Evolution and Long-Term Evolution (LTE). Your mission will be to take part in the evolution of the 3GPP standards, in order to secure interoperability between products from different vendors, contribute to Ericsson's leadership and to ensure excellent overall system performance at a reasonable cost. This is a central role where You cooperate externally with other companies and participants in the 3GPP RAN2 working group, where Ericsson is the leading contributor, and internally, with skilled people in WCDMA System Management, Product Management and Ericsson Research.
The job contains the following activities and responsibilities:
Prepare, present and discuss contributions in 3GPP RAN Working Group 2 (RAN2) as a delegate in the Ericsson 3GPP RAN2 team which is a part of the SWEA standardization project
Ensure synchronization between Ericsson products and the 3GPP standard w r t functionality and performance in tight cooperation with product management and product development.
Cooperate with Ericsson Research, ST-Ericsson and within WCDMA System in defining our contributions and standardization efforts in 3GPP.
Contribute in technology road-mapping and pre-pre studies at WCDMA RAN System Management
M.Sc. or equivalent competence (Formal education needed)
Requested competence:
Excellent competence and interest in radio interface protocols in mobile networks with focus on L2 and L3 (RRC, RLC, MAC) aspects.
Understanding of RRM (Radio Resource Management, e.g., radio link measurements and mobility
aspects) is beneficial.
Good experience of WCDMA/GSM/LTE product development, research or system engineering.
Flexible and well organized.
Excellent communication skills.
Willingness to travel.
An interest in and the ability to lead teams with members from different organizations in differentlocations is a definite plus.
Previous 3GPP or other standardization experience is an asset.
